James Christensen said, “We paint to extol the beauty of the subject. I have found that, with very few exceptions, men and women alike relate to the foibles of the poofy guys and enjoy the grace and loveliness of beautiful women. We are God’s most perfect creation, and painting lovely women is a joyful way for me to celebrate that miracle.” In his depiction of Madonna, Christensen says that it is a tribute to all women who patiently endure, “...while the guys rough house in the dining room of life.”
