The mother and child relationship is one of my favorite subjects to paint. In this painting, I love the subtle shapes of the side of the mother’s face and neck and she gazes at her baby, contrasting with the bold brushwork in the background. I am trying to capture that feeling of wonder and awe that I felt when beholding my own babies.
